The Hong Kong lottery is one of the world’s most popular lotteries. It offers seven different prize levels and a chance to win a jackpot of up to HK$ 8 million. The game was founded in 1976 with a 36 number format and has since adapted to a 49 number format. Players can select six numbers from a pool of numbers 1 to 49 and then a unique number is picked from a separate machine. Like other lottery games, the Hong Kong lottery also allows players to select a Quick Pick option which randomly selects all the numbers for them.
In addition to the thrice weekly Mark Six draw, the HKJC holds special “Snowball” draws for larger prizes. These drawings are usually held on holidays and celebrations, including the Mid-Autumn Snowball Draw, Chinese New Year Snowball Draw, Easter Snowball Draw and Summer Snowball Draw. For each special drawing, a percentage of the total spending is taken and added to the jackpot.
Travelers from around the world can enter the free flight giveaway starting March 1. The first round of tickets will be awarded to people in Southeast Asia, and will open to mainland China residents on April 1. The giveaway will then open to travelers in Europe, the United States and the rest of the world on May 1, with 80,000 free flights allocated to them. The winner of the free flights will receive economy-class airfares from a choice of three Hong Kong airlines.
