Several legal states are preparing to launch legal online sports betting. While some have settled on a single operator, others have chosen a multi-operator model. The state of Illinois has chosen a unique approach.

Illinois’ sports betting laws allow sports bettors to place bets at physical locations or online. In order to participate, bettors must be 21 years old or older and must reside in the state. In-person registration is required.

Sports bettors are allowed to place bets online on most major sports. The amount of money they wager determines the odds they receive. Unlike traditional betting, online sports betting allows bettors to open multiple accounts. In addition, some online sportsbooks offer payout bonuses. These bonuses can boost winnings.

New York sportsbooks generated $123,130,126 in gross revenue in January 2022, breaking the record set by New Jersey sportsbooks in October 2021. According to the New York State Gaming Commission, betting revenue in November 2020 was $2.6 million. This is an increase of 210.6% over December 2019.

Illinois’ sports betting laws also allow sports bettors to place bets in-person. In-person betting requires a master license. The state lottery has partnered with DraftKings for mobile betting. The New Hampshire lottery has also signed a contract with DraftKings to operate a mobile sportsbook app.

Several top sportsbooks have entered the Illinois market, including BetRivers, Caesars, and BetMGM. In addition, DraftKings Sportsbook NY is a strategic partner of Lago Resort & Casino in Waterloo.
